Our Story
LIBO stands for "Life is Better with Options," inspired by Abby Heathman, a young
woman living with Prader-Willi syndrome. Due to her intellectual and physical
challenges, Abby was unable to pursue higher education opportunities. Ironically,
Abby's mother, Donna, was a dedicated healthcare instructor, teaching classes to help
students secure jobs in the healthcare industry. Donna often brought Abby to class with
her. Despite her limitations, Abby showed a love for learning, formed relationships with
students, and brought a positive attitude to class. Abby cherished having choices
available to her throughout her day. Abby's unwavering spirit and her mantra, "Life is
Better with Options," became the driving force behind LIBO's mission to provide
educational and career opportunities.
Many people throughout the Treasure Valley struggle to find opportunities and support
to gain the necessary education to pursue new careers due to financial problems,
childcare responsibilities, or a lack of support. They feel they have no options to
improve their or their families' lives.
Through our partnership with MCA, LIBO ensures that students can obtain certifications
in the medical industry. LIBO helps qualified students by providing financial support for
classes, emotional support, as well as study support. As Abby would say, "Life is better
with options!" This fact holds true when it comes to improving people's lives and giving
them a chance to succeed.
